About this blog

My name is Eike Decker and I need to get a grip on the things I am doing - I have so many hobbies and the pile of dead projects is growing. So my 2023 new years resolution for 2024 onward was: I want to regularly blog the progress of my projects. It'll be a mix of various things; I have a few hobbies of various kind and I'll try to give them all some attention here.

About me

I am a software developer from Germany who specialized in computer game development. I can blame Ron Gilbert for that: Ever since I played Monkey Island I on our family's 386 PC, I wanted to make games.

But I am not only a coder, I also like drawing, 3d modelling and crafting real life things. Laser cutters are pretty cool (and potentially dangerous) toys btw.:

And papercraft is also something I'd love to have more time to do:

I also like to dabble in calligraphy:

... and as you can see, I like to combine these things. For example, for the papercraft helmet, I downloaded a 3d model, reworked the topology, unwrapped it using Pepakura, and finally converted the SVG generated to GCODE for my laser cutter (Snapmaker 2.0 A250 btw.).
